Equality. It's about time.
Fawcett East London
We are a grassroots feminist group based in East London. We are all volunteers, affiliated to the Fawcett Society and sharing their vision of a society in which women and girls in all their diversity are equal and truly free to fulfil their potential, creating a stronger, happier, better future for us all.
We are the proud founders of the End Salary History campaign and hold local meetings and events to inspire and connect local feminists.
We are always happy to welcome new members!

Why did you join this group?
I attended a national conference of Fawcett and met amazing people, a few months after the conference I realised that the best way for me to really make a change was to join a group and roll up my sleeves with like-minded people! I have only ever lived and worked in East London so East London Fawcett was the most obvious place to start; 2 years later I am the proud coordinator of an active and growing group! π
Something we should know about you?
I am french and moved to the UK 6 years ago, my accent is still very much giving it away! I love cheese and I used to eat 2 camemberts a week my first year in the UK... I must have been homesick! π§π«π·
What have you watched/read/done recently that you would recommend?
π I have recently read a few fascinating books Jacqueline Woodson, Red at the Bone & Lisa See, The Island of Sea Women are my favourite so far this year
π½ Otherwise I have watched a documentary on Nina Simone (What happened, Miss Simone?) & a great movie 'Promising young Women' with Carey Mulligan
